On The Scent - Class

Puppy socialisation and trainingPuppy socialisation and training

These classes are for puppies from once they have completed their vaccination course up to six months of age. In brief we cover sit, down, stand, recall away from play and walking nicely on a loose leash along with other exercises. We also look at the issues of puppies play biting and jumping up.

Classes are run on a ten consecutive week basis, and last for 45 minutes per class.
Classes are held on Friday and Saturday mornings.

Beginners Class

For puppies who have completed the puppy course.

Dog Agility Training

Dog Agility Classes

Beginners / Fun dog agility

Classes are held all the year round unless the weather stops play!

Beginners' Agility Course - 10 consecutive weeks (one-off).

Fun Dog Agility - Booked in blocks of 5 or 10 consecutive weeks. Dogs must have completed the Beginners' course to attend the Fun Agility sessions.
- Dogs must be at least a year old, fit and not over weight.
- For the dog owners, agility is a great way to keep fit, but I have to say once the dogs know what they are doing, very often the owners get left behind!

Dog Agility is very good for the Working Gundog too, where their owners wish to get their dogs fit for the next Shooting season or keep them fit throughout the Summer months after a busy Shooting season.  It's an excellent way for dog and handler to relax and have fun!

Many working dogs and their owners will do this fun sport between March and September as it helps to keep the dog's brain active and the body fit... it also helps keep the owners fit for purpose too!

Rascals and Mischief Classes

Our Rascals and Mischief Classes are for dogs who have had little or no previous training and who are over 7 months of age, and after they have had an initial 1-2-1 assessment. These classes are not for reactive dogs who are aggressive towards other people or dogs.

Training workshops

For the dog owner who has specific training issues like their canine companion pulling on the lead, recall issues or for those  who own dogs which simply have other bad manners like jumping up or barking for attention,  through to those owners who would like to learn more about ’Clicker’ training but who are unable to commit to a five week training course but who would like a few training suggestions to try.

The workshops are held periodically and last two hours.
Days and times to be confirmed.

Gun Dog Training in SuffolkOne to one personal training tuition (including gundog training)

For handlers and dogs who maybe experiencing a particular training issue like bad recalls, trophy running on retrieves, barking at cars or chasing anything from fur to joggers; or for those who would like to polish up their training skills in more depth.

Prices are charged at an hourly rate or clients may book either five or ten consecutive lessons to get a discount.

Home visits

These are for new puppy/dog owners who are experiencing a few issues at home or who feel they would benefit from a little guidance and help with their new family member, or indeed for those who may not have had a dog in a long while and are struggling with their new companion.

These visits are also beneficial for those owners having behaviour problems with their dog.

Products for Sale

The On the Scent Dog Training Book

I have written a book which runs along side all the Puppy/obedience training classes and is priced at £16.00p.  You may purchase the book directly from me as it is not available in the shops.

Treats and Chews

We currently sell the Antos range of dog treats and chews and hope to be increasing our range of other products in time.  Please do not hesitate to ask for further details.

We will only be selling ‘Natural’ treats with no artificial colourings or flavourings.

We are also happy to promote the following two dog foods.  A dry food diet and a raw food diet because we appreciate that like us all dogs are different and also not all dog owners will want to feed raw if they do not like handling raw food.

PURINA Proplan - A complete dry food from puppyhood to the senior years. Samples are available.

NATURAL INSTINCT - Complete raw food from puppyhood to the senior years.

Please note that there are many good dog foods on the market to suit every pocket.  The foods I mention I can say that I have seen great results with both our own dogs and with clients dogs.
